TKC’s Chris Hazelhurst to retire

TKC’s commercial director Chris Hazelhurst has announced his retirement after 28 years with the business.

Hazlehurst (pictured left) joined TKC in 1990 and was its second employee at the time.

He began in the role of warehouse assistant and progressed throughout his career to warehouse manager, commercial manager and then to commercial director in 1999.

He has overseen three company moves, including the most recent relocation to the Denton headquarters.

TKC described Hazelhurst as “an integral part of the team” throughout his career and most notably through the company’s buyout by private equity firm NorthEdge Capital.

TKC CEO Roy Saunders (right) said: “Chris’s development through TKC is a genuine feel good story from warehouse assistant to commercial director. His commitment regularly saw 4am starts, with our customers at the heart of his focus and drive. He supported me personally when I joined the business and has been instrumental as the business has changed over the last few years. We all wish him the very best in his retirement and thank him for his unquestionable commitment to TKC over 28 years.”

Hazelhurst commented: “TKC has been a huge part of my life for 28 years and the business is unrecognisable from when I first started. I’m so proud to have been part of that development and leave the business as it’s set for even further expansion. As an avid Liverpool fan and keen golfer, I am looking forward to enjoying those pursuits more, as well as devoting far more of my time to my family who’ve supported me throughout my career, but may have at times felt second best to TKC. Roy and the senior team at TKC have fully respected my decision and I’ll watch their growth with pride.”
