NKBA hosts first Global Connect Business conference in UK

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the US trade body for the kitchen and bathroom industries, has held its first Global Connect Business summit in the UK.

The day-long event took place alongside the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) annual conference held at the Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire last month. The aim of the day was to inform British manufacturers of the opportunities in the North American kitchen and bathroom sectors.

In a bid to promote “frictionless trade”, the event programme addressed macro-economic, social and political trends important to conducting business in North America. Topics covered throughout the day included key economic indicators, demographic and geographic influences, shifting lifestyle and design trends, as well as panel discussions covering regulations, market strategies and government trade, code, financial and tax implications.

Speaking to kbbreview at the event Suzie Williford, executive vice-president, industry relations, at the NKBA, said: “The aim of the summit was to educate UK and European manufacturers on what it is they need to be able to do business in the US.

“This event is part of a multiphase programme to highlight opportunities for the global market in North America and to introduce new products and new designs to the US.

“The North American market is full of opportunities for global kitchen and bathroom manufacturers but it’s also very unique, so we also want to educate other markets on how to do business successfully in the US.

“We picked the UK as the location to host the first of these events because it just made sense; there’s no language barrier and British product is very popular in the US.”
