Installers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are now facing different restrictions on how they can work during this new lockdown.
To help installers and retailers get to grips with the current rules, the British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has launched a ‘Current Coronavirus Status’ check on its news page that is sets this out clearly and is updated with the latest information.
The information is separated out into regions and gives details for both construction and domestic work. There are also links to the government websites regarding Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) and the latest restrictions for the country overall.
In summary, the regulations are as follows:
As of January 11, construction work can start and continue in all four counties, however domestic refurbishment can only start or continue in England, Wales and NI. Scotland’s restrictions have banned domestic refurbishment unless it is essential.
The Scottish definition of essential for kitchen and bathroom installation is emergency work or was necessary for the health and safety of residents.
All work installation that is carried out has to be in accordance with SOP for each respective country.
Last week, there was a lot of confusion surrounding the regulations in Scotland and clarification was required on whether installers could work on domestic projects.
