Wren Kitchens has been named the UK’s best employer in a comprehensive annual survey by recruitment website Indeed, beating major household names, including John Lewis, Ikea and Marks and Spencer.
The Indeed league table is based on thousands of employee ratings and company reviews published on the Indeed website.
Factors such as career progression, culture and job security, benefits and salaries are taken into account.
Wren has 78 showrooms across Scotland, England and Wales and manufactures an estimated 2,000 kitchens a week across its three production facilities in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Earnings before interest, tax and depreciation rose 66% to £62.4m in the 12 months to the end of January 2019.
GlobalData analysts described Wren’s performance against the difficult economic and political circumstances as “gravity-defying”.
In the Indeed reviews, Wren employees said they “are highly valued by Wren and well looked after”.
The company said it offers on-site gyms with all the latest equipment and subsidised food and drink in its restaurants.
It also said it has a dedicated training academy at its headquarters in Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire, where all staff receive a detailed induction.
Mark Pullan, Wren managing director, said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete a review.
“Wren has grown at an amazing pace since we set it up almost 10 years ago. We are very fortunate to have 4,412 people who are passionate, hard-working and focused on doing their best for our customers, and this culture permeates the entire business. Many of our team have been with us from the beginning of the journey and it has been wonderful to watch them develop as the business has grown.
“The business is continuing to expand and we are always looking for ambitious people who share our ethos and who want to build a rewarding career.”
