Searle and Taylor scoops TUKC ‘greatest green showroom’ award

Winchester-based retailer Searle and Taylor has won The Used Kitchen Company’s (TUKC) ‘Greatest Green Showroom’ Award, 2019, having recycled more of its ex-display kitchens than any other TUKC showroom partner last year.

This new award was created by TUKC chief executive Looeeze Grossman to increase the total volume of displays recycled by showrooms, whether they are existing recyclers or new to the concept.

Grossman said the award helps support and encourage a circular economy within the kitchen sector and add to the 14,000 tonnes of unnecessary kitchen waste TUKC has saved from landfill since its foundation in 2005.

Searle and Taylor features a wide range of kitchen styles, from signature and hand-made bespoke designs to contemporary kitchens by Austrian brands Intuo and EWE. It has also recently dedicated a new third floor of kitchen displays to Extreme Logic Kitchens (ELK), a Hampshire-based artisan manufacturer.

Searle and Taylor managing director Darren Taylor (pictured) said: “As a business that is always seeking to find more sustainable and environmentally-friendly methods to use on a day-to-day basis, we are delighted to have won this award, which we will proudly display in our showroom.

“It has been a pleasure to partner with the friendly, proactive and knowledgeable team at TUKC when selling our ex-display kitchens.”
