Exhibition Insight – what to look out for at kbb Birmingham 2024
The countdown is on for kbb Birmingham 2024, with this year’s event set to be the place for the KBB industry to meet, network and discover new brands – all under one roof. Event director Sam Fisher shares her insights on some of the big trends to look out for and highlights what this year’s event has in store for visitors
The KBB sector continues to push the boundaries of design with new creative ideas and innovative products. The increase in more sustainable solutions, innovative materials and technological advances are key trends driving consumer demand as well as supporting changing lifestyle needs.
Bathroom trends
By keeping interior design intuitive, we can make our bathrooms look and feel harmonious through accentuated curve features, that are inspired by nature. Complementing these natural features with rich, earthy shades of rust, plaster, warm beige, and shades of green can further enhance the calm and sophisticated feel of the bathroom. Discover the new collections at the show from Acquabella, as a great example of this trend.
Statement art in the form of playful tiling can allow for more creativity and personalisation. Illustrative designs – such as many of Ca’Pietra’s collections – push the boundaries and introduce something new into the bathroom. In both the bathroom and kitchen sectors, consumers are keen to make eco-conscious choices, such as choosing water-saving fittings that greatly reduce water use, such as those from Nobili, Flova and Imex.
Kitchen trends
Homeowners are increasingly looking for creative ways of hiding spaces in the kitchen, whether to rid the room of clutter or create clever multifunctional storage solutions, such as those offered by exhibitor brands such as LochAnna and Rotpunkt.
Similarly, blended appliances can enhance the seamlessness of a kitchen in an open-plan living space. Brands such as Franke and Caple have designed discrete appliances to blend into the home while still maintaining their hi-tech functions or energy-saving benefits. For a clutter free kitchen worktop, check out the latest trends in boiling water taps, such as those from Quooker, who will be launching new finishes to its versatile offering.
Worktops and splashbacks with dramatic colours and veining are rising in demand, such as those from brands such as Konigstone, Quartzforms, and Cimstone – they offer a wow factor in any design.
Innovation awards
We’re delighted to welcome back the kbb Birmingham Innovation Awards, which are once again in partnership with Blum, a leading manufacturer of high-quality kitchen fittings. The awards are a highlight of the show, celebrating creative and ground-breaking solutions from brands within the industry. Visitors to the show can see the exciting innovations for themselves and even vote for their favourite in the ‘People’s Choice’ category. In addition, a panel of leading professionals and experts from the KBB sector will judge the final categories: the ‘Judges Choice Award’ and the ‘Sustainability Award’ live, during the final day of the show.
