Sigma 3 Kitchens – the parent company behind Masterclass Kitchens – recently welcomed several representatives from the Bank of England to its Bridgend headquarters, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the UK’s manufacturing sector.

Dr Swati Dhingra, a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, and Steve Hicks, the Bank of England’s agent for Wales, both paid a visit to the headquarters, and left having gained an insight into kitchen production in Wales.

During their visit, both Dr Dhingra and Mr Hicks toured the company’s new 130,000 sq ft manufacturing facility. Sigma 3 recently announced it had invested more than  £20m into the manufacturing capabilities of its Masterclass Kitchens facility, which it believes will help it triple its manufacturing capacity.

The company said that their visit highlighted the importance of dialogue between policymakers and industry leaders in shaping the future of UK manufacturing.

Brian Lakin, Sigma 3 Chairman, said the company was delighted to welcome Dhingra and Hicks to its new manufacturing facility. He also commented: “Their insights into the economic landscape were invaluable, and we appreciated the opportunity to discuss how the UK manufacturing sector can continue to thrive.”

Steve Hicks, the Bank of England’s agent for Wales, added: “It was incredibly useful to visit Sigma 3 Kitchens with Swati as part of a wider visit to South Wales. Company visits like this are vital for Bank policymakers to hear first-hand from business leaders, and this visit provided helpful insights into both the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.”

In other news, Sigma 3 Kitchens is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. First established in 1975 in Barry, South Wales, Sigma 3 has grown from a family-run workshop into a trusted industry leader in the kitchen sector, providing a wide portfolio of collections that cater to both modern and traditional tastes.
