As part of its generational succession plan, Pilar Cosentino has been announced as the new CEO of surface brand Cosentino, along with a raft of other senior changes.

Effective as of this week, Pilar – formerly the executive vice president – has assumed the chief executive role, and is replacing 73-year-old Francisco Martínez-Cosentino in the position. According to the company, Martínez-Cosentino will remain with the brand in the role of chairman, in a strategy that it says has been designed to “combine experience and youth”.

Cosentino says that Pilar’s appointment both guarantees an orderly generational change, while also adheres to best governance practices by separating the functions of CEO and chairman.

Pilar Cosentino has been with the company for more than 20 years, and is said to have played a key role in the company’s growth. Throughout her career, she has led Cosentino’s strategy, talent management, digital transformation, and IT areas.

As Pilar moves to her new role, Eduardo Cosentino has been appointed as the company’s new executive vice president. Going forwards, he will work across several areas, including marketing and digital business, expansion and pricing, in addition to continuing serving as CEO of Cosentino Americas.

In addition to his 15-year career with Cosentino, Eduardo has also served as a board chairman at the US National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), as well as promoted bilateral trade relations between Spain and the US as vice president of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce.

As an additional aspect of its management shake-up, Álvaro de la Haza has also become Cosentino’s chief corporate officer, reporting directly to the chairman.

Furthermore, Cosentino says it is creating a management committee, that will act as a co-ordinating body for management. This committee will be composed of 10 members: Francisco, Pilar, Eduardo, and Álvaro, as well as the company’s global vice presidents responsible for supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, EMEA sales, finance, and people.

With this new strategy, Cosentino says it is taking “a decisive step in its organisational structure, combining the experience accumulated over decades with new leadership for the future”.
