Showroom of the Month: Lapicida, London
Designed to replicate the feel of its Harrogate HQ, tile and stone brand Lapicida recently opened the doors to its new London showroom, right in the heart of Pimlico’s bustling design district
“When this space in Pimlico became available, I knew immediately that this was the place to be,” recalls Jason Cherrington, managing director of Lapicida.
“We have waited a long time for the right location. We’re delighted to be located amongst other inspirational interiors brands, and it is ideal for interior designers and customers to cover all design bases within one area.”
Set across two floors (some of which are literally reclaimed antique floors), the new showroom on Ebury Street is the perfect arena to showcase Lapicida’s range of natural stone products and fine Italian porcelain.
When asked about what impression he wanted the space to create for visitors, Cherrington explains it was designed as “a real chocolate box of luxury stone and tile surfaces , tactile objects and quality craftsmanship”.
Aside from just the tiles and surfaces it’s so well-known for, the showroom also displays Lapicida’s selection of solid marble sinks. These run the gamut from marble Belfast models to shallower basin designs in honed and antique finishes.
Visitors to the showroom will notice the specific area dedicated to the brand’s reclaimed antique stone flooring. On display are examples of its English flagstone, Barr de Montpelier and Lyon Terracotta offerings, which can be custom-cut and turned into dimensioned pieces for modern use.
Also inside, there is a so-called “indoor-outdoor” room dedicated to the brand’s ORNAMENTI range. This area is dotted with luxury outdoor ornaments, like artisan-made Italian terracotta planters and authentic French Biot Jars, which have been carefully selected to spark inspiration for outdoor spaces.
Tucked away even further, there is also a dedicated meeting area where Lapicida’s project consultants can advise clients on anything from the products sold, all the way to complex designs and manufacturing projects.
And currently exclusive to this specific showroom, Lapicida London is showing its new Composite collection, which is created by cutting natural stones such as travertine, marble and basalt into geometric shapes fitted into unique patterns.
“Our showroom manager Nicola Kemplay and her excellent team are ready to show London what we have to offer,” Cherrington concludes, “and we’re very excited to be a part of the design community here.”
