Managing director of Quooker UK, Stephen Johnson, has officially passed the finish line in his 2,000km fundraising trek across Europe, having walked more than 2.5 million steps along the way.

To complete his challenge, Johnson has had to walk 64km each day throughout the month of August. On his journey, Johnson has passed through five different countries, beginning in Düsseldorf, Germany, and finally ending at the company’s Spanish HQ in Barcelona.

Johnson is aiming to raise £100,000 for the two charities. Aside from just raising valuable funds, Johnson says he also undertook the walk in memory of his late father, Neville Johnson, who passed away last year.

At the time of writing, Johnson’s ambitious fundraising efforts have almost hit their target, with just over £6,000 remaining, and seven days left to donate.

Celebrating his immense achievement on LinkedIn, Johnson said: “Yesterday I took my final steps. I finished this crazy challenge. Five countries. 84,00 steps a day. No rest. It’s been a month of highs and lows and I feel privileged to have been able to do it. But, wow, was it difficult.”

His successful walk across Europe last month follows the successful completion of another walking challenge in August 2024. Last year, the Quooker MD set out to walk 1,000 miles to raise money for Grief Encounter – a challenge he surpassed by hitting his goal early. Despite the early finish, Johnson actually increased his step target and continued walking even further to continue raising funds for the charity.
