FM Mattsson Group has agreed to acquire Bristan Group Limited in a deal worth around £49m, strengthening its presence in the UK and Ireland bathroom market.
The Swedish group has acquired 100% of Bristan from Masco Corporation, which has owned the business since 2002. The agreement also includes an earn-out based on Bristan’s revenue for the remainder of 2026, capped at a maximum of £6m.
Bristan, which reported revenue of £63m over the last year and employs around 280 people, is the UK’s largest brassware supplier and has an established presence across installers, specifiers, merchants, DIY retailers and online channels.
The acquisition adds to FM Mattsson Group’s existing UK and Ireland business, Aqualla, which has a stronger focus on retail and consumer-led bathroom products. The group said the combination creates a broader platform across both the retail and professional markets.
Fredrik Skarp, CEO of FM Mattsson Group, said: “The acquisition of Bristan is a major step in line with our strategy to strengthen FM Mattsson Group’s international presence through strong brands.
“Bristan is established as the no. 1 brassware supplier in the UK and is known for its high level of customer service and broad product offering, particularly for the professional market. As the largest brassware supplier in the UK, Bristan gives us a significantly stronger platform in one of Europe’s largest markets for bathroom and kitchen mixers.
“We very much look forward to continuing to develop the business together with Bristan’s experienced management team and committed employees, whose expertise and drive have been crucial to the company’s success.
“Together with Aqualla, Bristan creates an even stronger platform for long-term profitable growth in the UK, combining complementary strengths across retail, professional and commercial project channels.”
Bristan chief executive Jen Cassidy said: “We are delighted to be joining the FM Mattsson Group, an organisation whose values and ethos align so closely with our own.
“We look forward to continue to drive through our strategy focusing on our new product roadmap, demand generation and strategic supplier partnerships development with the support of our new parent company.”
Following completion, Bristan will continue to operate as a brand-led business within FM Mattsson Group, retaining its existing management team.
The transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to complete on 28 July 2026.
FM Mattsson Group said that, based on Bristan’s financial performance for the 12 months to June 2026, the acquisition would have increased the group’s earnings per share by around 30%, equivalent to approximately SEK 1.03 per share, after taking account of estimated financing costs.
