Quooker unveils bold new sustainability targets

Boiling water tap brand Quooker has committed to increasing energy savings per household by 200% by the year 2030, along with making significant reductions to its own measurable CO2 emissions.

The ambitious new targets were outlined in Quooker’s latest sustainability report, which also details how the company has donated more than 3.65bn litres of clean drinking water since 2015 through its work with the Made Blue Foundation.

In the report, Quooker outlines that its target to increase household energy savings over the next five years is now possible thanks to improved product efficiency.

To reinforce this, the company says that a Quooker tap with a COMBI system can help a household save more than 4000 litres of water per year. The boiling tap brand says that UK consumers are currently achieving savings of up to 35% across its key products – a statistic which rises to 50% when used in conjunction with a COMBI tank.

Encouragingly, the report also reveals that nearly 23,000 UK households have already used the company’s sustainability check tool to monitor and reduce their water and energy usage.

Quooker also says that by 2030 it is aiming to reduce its scope 1 CO2 emissions by 90% compared with 2024, along with reducing scope 2 CO2 emissions by 40%.

Furthermore, the boiling water tap specialist says it is currently well on its way to replacing its fleet with electric vehicles, with the aim to have the company’s entire fleet be made up of electric vehicles by the end of 2028.

In addition, Quooker also says that during the last year, 87% of the company’s energy usage (which includes manufacturing and service) comes from renewable sources, and roughly 72% of the company’s service calls resulted in product repairs, instead of outright replacements.

“A single Quooker tap can make a genuine difference in the home but when used at scale, it becomes part of a much bigger sustainability story,” commented Stephen Johnson, the managing director of Quooker UK & Ireland.

He continued: “The potential impact on water conservation and energy use across the UK is huge. Sustainability has been at the heart of Quooker’s mission for years. These results reflect the long-term commitment we’ve made and reinforces our responsibility to keep raising the bar for environmental innovation.”

In related news, earlier this year Quooker UK launched a new walking technician service, which sees company technicians travelling on foot or by public transport to complete basic servicing and part repairs appointments. Quooker says the new service should significantly help to reduce its carbon emissions in areas which typically have high traffic levels.
