Speaking exclusively to kbbreview at this year’s kbb Show, Quooker UK MD Stephen Johnson said the company is launching a new cycling engineer initiative following the success of its walking technician scheme.
Designed to be a sustainable way for its technicians to handle visits in urban areas, Quooker launched the walking technician scheme last year in London. The service aims to provide Quooker customers with “rapid on the spot assistance”, where a technician will travel to a customer’s home on foot or public transport to carry out basic servicing and part repairs.
Discussing the expansion at this year’s kbb show, Johnson said: “We’ve got our walking technicians in London. We’ve now got four of them, but we’re still looking to expand that into other city centres. That’s been phenomenal, and I can also reveal we’ve also just introduced new cycling engineers as well.
“As a sustainable product, we’re always looking to develop sustainable ways of operating in the business, and the cycling and walking engineers are at the forefront of that.
“There’s always new opportunities. In fact, You could say the same with kitchens themselves. They’re millions of years old, but it keeps on going, people move and change. Even with the size that Quooker is now, we’re always finding new and better ways to deliver boiling water all the time.”
When asked about business over the past year, Johnson also said that Quooker had enjoyed double digit growth of 15% in 2025. He continued: “I think it’s because there’s always new customers entering the market, but I’m incredibly proud of our success. But what does that mean for me? It means you’ve got to be better than everybody else and offer a better service. If you do, there’s business out there – it’s all a case of being hungry for success and going out there to find it.”
