Following the recent departure of Duravit’s CEO Stephan Patrick Tahy, the bathroom company has named chief product and technology officer Michael Demmer as its interim CEO, effective immediately.
By stepping up to the role of interim CEO the company says he will help to ensure a seamless continuiation of the company’s projects and strategy.
It was announced last week that former CEO Tahy would be stepping down “by mutual agreement”, as it was decided that his vision for the company’s future was no longer aligned with that of the rest of the executive board.
Gregor Greinert, chairman of Duravit’s supervisory board, thanked Tahy for his “dedication to Duravit and for his valuable contributions to the company”. Meanwhile, Tahy said he would look back on his time at the helm of the company “with great appreciation,” also thanking the company’s board, owners and employees.
Duravit previously announced that the interim leadership responsibilities would be shared between Michael Demmer as well as his other colleagues on the supervisory board, chief financial officer Martin Winkle and chief operating officer Thomas Stammel. However, it has since been confirmed that Demmer alone will pick up the mantle of interim CEO.
“I will continue to develop Duravit AG with a clear strategy that puts people first and consistently strengthens the core brand,” Demmer commented. “In doing so, we will focus even more strongly on customers and markets in the future and continue to uphold the values that have always defined Duravit: timeless design, craftsmanship excellence, and first-class quality.”
