BIFIS unveils ambitious Vision 2030 manifesto

The British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS) has published its forward-looking Vision 2030 manifesto, which it describes as a “comprehensive blueprint for sustainable excellence and growth” across the fitted interiors sector.

First mentioned by CEO Damian Walters during BIFIS’ 20th anniversary event in February, the document outlines the organisation’s ongoing roadmap to address major industry-wide challenges, including the skills gap, compliance, sustainability and standards.

Additionally, BIFIS says the 20 page document has been designed to help communicate the Institute’s purpose, as well as inspire confidence amongst stakeholders.

From a skills perspective, BIFIS’ manifesto includes plans to promote vocational learning schemes like apprenticeships in schools, plans to evolve its Fitted Interior Skills Hub professional development programme, and a pledge to launch retraining bootcamps and career conversion programs for those in adjacent industries.

Other initiatives include plans to standardise core competencies to combat rogue traders, the launch of readiness assessment programs to prepare businesses for potential mandatory registration of home improvement specialists, and a pledge to develop an industry-specific sustainability charter.

Looking further into the future, BIFIS says it also has plans to establish regional chapters of the organisation across the UK, as well as exploring how it could potentially create a National Training Facility to foster professional development.

“I would like to express my gratitude to our stakeholders for their dedication and continued support,” commented Damian Walters, BIFIS CEO. “The institute’s commitment to building a dynamic, collaborative, and future-ready fitted interiors sector is vital to all areas of the sector and the BIFIS Manifesto aims to leave a legacy of excellence and sustainability for generations to come.”
