Paint brand Dulux has named “soft and radiant” Soulful Sage as its official Colour of the Year for 2027.
Each year, the paint company’s colour experts conduct research and review insights to decide upon a specific shade that the company believes best reflects how consumers want to live, feel and decorate their spaces.
Dulux says that green is a “healing, mood-boosting colour”, and with its recent trend forecasting revealing that people around the world are “feeling weighed down by modern life and looking for a little light relief”. The company claims that this year’s Soulful Sage can “make your heart glow, your soul shine and your spirits soar”.
The paint brand also says that because research shows that spending time in nature can have mood-boosting effects, it believes using soft natural green shades to decorate a space can lift homeowners’ spirits.
Dulux says that using Soulful Sage in interiors can create a soft, sunlit monotone look, and suggests trying it with other complementary green colours to create a two-tone wraparound effect.
Last year, and for the first time in the company’s history, Dulux named multiple paint shades as its Colour(s) of the year for 2026. This followed a bright and positive yellow shade called “True Joy” in 2025, and the year before that, the 2024 Colour of the Year was named as Sweet Embrace, described as a “delicate, optimistic and modern tone that is understated and comforting”.
