Showroom of the Month: The Weald Kitchen Company

Brothers Tom and Chris Green, co-owners of The Weald Kitchen Company, have created a characterful two-floor showroom in a 15th-century country barn in West Farleigh, Kent

Founded just three years ago, The Weald Kitchen Company has grown from a small local venture into a bespoke kitchen business with its own dedicated showroom. The brothers bring more than 16 years of combined carpentry experience to the business, offering design, supply and installation from concept through to completion.

The new, larger showroom makes the most of its unusual setting, with exposed beams and original architectural details providing a warm backdrop to the displays. Downstairs, three distinct kitchen designs showcase different door styles and finishes, including a statement island combining a quartz worktop with a bespoke butcher’s block. Upstairs, there’s a bespoke bar with a striking glass splashback, plus an island with bar seating where customers can sit and discuss their projects.

“My favourite display is the true in-frame Edwardian in white, particularly with the traditional butler sink and Quooker tap,” says Tom. “As the studio is in a period building, I feel this display works beautifully with the character and history of the property.”

The showroom also includes a second true in-frame display in English Blue, a traditional shaker overlay display in Indigo, and a butler’s pantry with solid oak doors and internals. Smaller displays upstairs demonstrate everything from pull-out mechanisms and drawers to handles and worktops. The brothers select brands based on quality, reliability and price, with the aim of giving customers plenty of choice across doors, cabinetry, handles, taps and worktops. But it’s the personal service that sits at the heart of the business.

“Our main ethos is to treat every client as if we were creating a kitchen for our own family,” says Chris. “We like to build a genuine relationship with our customers and, when we’re working in their homes, we often feel that we become almost like part of the family.”

Their carpentry background also allows the brothers to project manage, while taking on much of the work themselves. The plan is to keep evolving the showroom while retaining its homely character. There is also potential to expand into the neighbouring barn, showcasing media walls, pantries and other fitted furniture alongside the kitchens.
