Blum has chosen suicide prevention charity Adam’s Light to receive a major donation through its recent ‘Make It Happen’ campaign, with the funding going towards helping the charity visit more schools to deliver its important message.

Adam’s Light was established by Lauren Carvalho in 2025 to honour her late son, Adam, who died in 2011 at the age of 19. The charity works to shine a light on suicide prevention for those under 30 by delivering talks and workshops at schools, colleges and organisations across the UK.

Blum launched its Make It Happen initiative in June, inviting industry professionals to share local causes close to their heart. The fittings supplier promised to select one worthy entry to receive a £1,500 donation this year to help make their goals easier to achieve.

After receiving many submissions, Adam’s Light was selected after being nominated by professional carpenter George Kelly. Kelly, who is the owner of George James Carpentry, was also a close friend of Adam.

“I had the chance to tell the story of the charity and believed this donation would be hugely impactful,” Kelly said. “Adam was my close friend, and I’ve raised money previously by running the Brighton marathon. This was another opportunity to shine a spotlight on the cause and help provide the equipment and resources needed to raise further awareness of mental health and suicide among young people.”

George continued: “Blum’s donation will help Adam’s Light reach more people by giving the charity the boost it needs to visit more schools and expand its work. Adam’s mum, Lauren, has counselled families bereaved by suicide for years and has spoken at numerous events, sharing her experience to help others. She is the driving force behind Adam’s Light.”

Suicide is reported to be the single leading cause of death in young people under 35 in the UK. Blum’s support of Adam’s Light will allow the charity to continue its work breaking down the stigma around suicide while also raising awareness of the growing crisis among young people.

Krystyna Threlfall, Blum UK’s marketing manager, added: “Through our Make It Happen initiative we sought to hear about the good causes that sit close to the hearts of the Blum community, with a commitment to donate to the one that resonated most with our appointed selection panel. George’s nomination for Adam’s Light really moved us, and we felt it was an incredible cause to support.

“Suicide prevention and mental health awareness are vitally important, and the work that Adam’s Light is doing is truly inspirational. We are delighted to make this donation to help the charity reach more people and potentially make the difference to a young person going through a difficult time.”

In other news, Blum UK also recently announced it would continue its partnership with children’s charity Ride High by designing and supplying made to measure furniture items for the charity’s newly refurbished changing rooms.
