Sirius Buying Group has appointed Ian Cullen as its new national business development and member support manager, as it sets its sights on future expansion.
Having built up a wealth of experience in the electrical retail industry, Cullen has worked everywhere from the shop floor to national account leadership. He has also previously worked for major suppliers such as Glen Dimplex and Liebherr, which Sirius says gives him a unique and valuable perspective as a former retailer.
When he begins in the role later this month, Cullen is set to work closely with existing Sirius members to help unlock the full potential of their membership, in addition to supporting the buying group’s growth by recruiting new members.
“I am really excited to join Sirius this spring, and assist in strengthening new and existing connections,” Cullen commented. “I am inspired by the culture of taking ownership and empowering the independent retail market, and I look forward to finding creative solutions to challenges, and evolving our level of member and supplier support.”
Darren Scott, Sirius’ head of membership development, added: “We are delighted to welcome Ian to the team, as he has brings a quality mix of people skills combined with commercial mindset. His ‘can do’ attitude is refreshing, and I have no doubt that his experiences both client side and on the shop floor will inspire our Members to seize all the opportunities available within the group.
“Our industry is all about people, and Ian’s communication skills have always impressed so it’s great to have him on board as a key member of the Sirius team to support our Members. I have no doubt that his skills in negotiation, retail, sales, strategy and management will be of great value to everyone in the Sirius community going forwards!”
