National kitchen retailer Magnet has announced two new appointments to its executive leadership team, with Rupert Nichols joining as customer and commercial director, and former Moores Furniture director Guy Tooth appointed as supply chain director.
Nichols joins with more than 15 years of senior leadership experience gained through retail and e-commerce platforms, with Magnet saying he has a strong record of driving customer-led growth. In his new role, Nichols will lead both the company’s customer and commercial teams, with Magnet saying his focus will be on “strengthening the customer proposition, expanding market reach and delivering sustainable growth”.
He joins Magnet from Toolstation, where he worked as the retailer’s customer and commercial director. He has also held senior roles at Studio Retail, Dixons Carphone and Sainsbury’s.
“With a strong foundation and a talented team already in place, I’m really looking forward to being part of the next phase of the Group’s journey,” Rupert Nichols said.
“Magnet is a strong brand with a trusted reputation, supported by long-standing partnerships with our suppliers. My focus will be on building on those strengths while ensuring even more homeowners discover the brand and experience what makes our kitchens so special.”
Meanwhile, new supply chain director Guy Tooth has joined Magnet from Moores Furniture Group, which entered administration in January of this year.
Brining more than 15 years of experience in manufacturing-led environments, he has also held senior roles at Greencore, Morrisons and PepsiCo.
“I’m really pleased to be joining Magnet at such an exciting point in its journey,” Tooth said. “The business has already made great progress, and there’s a clear opportunity to now build on that by strengthening how our UK supply chain supports both our customers and our growth ambitions.
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and continuing to strengthen our manufacturing and delivery capabilities to ensure we deliver even greater value for our customers.”
Sophie Rose, Magnet CEO said she was delighted to welcome both Nichols and Tooth to the retailer’s leadership team. She continued: “Rupert brings strong commercial leadership and will play a key role in helping us continue to grow while staying firmly focused on delivering a high-quality experience for our customers.
“At the same time, our British manufacturing and heritage remain a real strength for us. With Guy’s hands-on manufacturing experience and deep knowledge of the KBB industry, he will play an important role in shaping a supply chain that’s fit for the future and supports our wider growth ambitions.”
In related news, Rose was a guest on this week’s episode of The kbbreview Podcast, where she discussed her plans for the business following its recent return to UK-based ownership.
