Showroom of the month: Artizan Interiors, Surrey
As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, Surrey-based Artizan Interiors expanded its kitchen showroom to include a new second-floor bedroom and interiors display space.
We wanted to improve the customer journey, and moving to a bigger showroom was both costly and wouldn’t necessarily achieve our aim,” explains Alex Zandona, the owner of Artizan Interiors.
“We originally wanted to take the shop next to us, but we ended up taking the offices above the showroom instead – it’s worked out as one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.”
While the showroom’s downstairs space is dedicated specifically to the kitchens that have helped earn Artizan its glowing reputation over the past quarter-century, the upstairs has been designed to show off what the studio can offer for the rest of the home.
Ascending up the stairs into the new space, Zandona says visitors emerge into what he refers to as “the bedroom room”, which is decorated with soft furnishings.
Chairs, lamps, a large mirror and a chandelier have been hand-picked to create a comfortable and relaxed ambiance in the space. “It’s quite a large space, and you can picture yourself sitting there reading a book. It’s got a really cosy feeling,” he adds.
Walking through a set of tinted glass doors into a walk-in wardrobe, clients will then find themselves in the meeting room, which can be configured as both a dining room – thanks to its large central table – and a living room with a media wall.
It is here that clients are brought for their design consultations or meetings, with the team hoping that visitors will feel comfortable, yet impressed, by seeing the studio’s wider portfolio.
According to Zandona, a big feature of this space is its fully stocked bar, which has proved to be a big hit with clients thanks to its whiskey rack, gin set and bar stools.
“When we’re entertaining in there we get a barman and really make the most of it,” Zandona explains, “It feels like you’re doing a dinner party at home.”
When asked what he feels like the overall ambience of the space is, Zandona says it was envisioned as having an atmosphere that feels warming. It essentially exudes a sense of being in someone’s home, instead of an emotionless and detached showroom.
“We’ve designed the whole space so you start downstairs with our kitchen ranges, then for your appointment, we take you upstairs to see everything else that we do. It gives the client a more personal experience and helps to make them feel relaxed without any interruptions.
“We’re really pleased – the whole redesign has gone even better than expected, and the feedback from customers has been fantastic, it was definitely worth the investment.”
