After joining the business almost 45 years ago, Marcia Smith, the highly respected director at Swansea-based bathroom retailer TW Thomas, has announced her retirement.

During her time at TW Thomas – which was established more than 160 years ago – Smith was with the company for the move to its current premises in Lion Way, Swansea in 1994.

At this time, she also saw the company drop its builders’ merchant arm to focus entirely on retailing bathrooms and tiles.

Andrew Thomas, managing director of TW Thomas, reflected: “Marcia joined the business an incredible 44 years ago. Rising rapidly through the ranks she brought an unprecedented energy and motivated work ethic to the business that enabled it to flourish throughout the ups and downs the industry has encountered over the years.

“Her legacy is unmatched and I am sure all who knew Marcia in the industry would like to extend to her all our sincere wishes for a well-earned healthy, relaxing and happy retirement to concentrate on her beloved family, travelling, cake making and shopping!”

Also during her tenure, the business won no less than three kbbreview Awards: the Marketing in Bathrooms award in 1999, Master Bathroom Retailer of the Year award in 2000, and the Bathroom Customer Service award in 2020.
