Hartford Holdings buys Thomas Crapper & Co

Huddersfield-based bath manufacturer Hartford Holdings has bought Thomas Crapper & Co.

The Stratford-upon-Avon-based sanitaryware manufacturer was founded by Thomas Crapper, from Thorn in Doncaster, in the 1860s. The company will be returning to its Yorkshire roots, but its operations will remain in Stratford-upon-Avon.

It currently has a turnover of around £1 million and employs seven people at its Stratford base.

Paul Dwyer has been appointed managing director of Thomas Crapper and will work alongside Hartford Holdings’ managing director David Mosley.

Mosley said: “To say we’re delighted to be welcoming the Thomas Crapper brand to Hartford Holdings would be an understatement.

“This news marks a pivotal moment in our business development as we strengthen our portfolio with a new consumer brand.”
