Harvey Jones launches ‘The Community Larder’ initiative

Harvey Jones has launched The Community Larder, a nationwide initiative that encourages local support for food banks.

Using larders within its network of 32 showrooms nationwide, the company is looking for food and household donations, which will be redistributed back to the community in partnership with the Trussell Trust, a charity that provides emergency food to a UK-wide network of 1,200 food banks.

For every item donated, Harvey Jones will match it with a 50p cash donation towards the Trussell Trust.

The campaign was devised in response to consumers stockpiling food in the first weeks of lockdown, and hopes to redirect excess goods to those who need it.

John Curwen, CEO at Harvey Jones, said: “We have seen many heart-warming examples of people showing support within the community, whether that be collecting shopping for elderly neighbours or simply opening their doors and windows every Thursday evening to join the national applause. The Community Larder is our contribution to this great national effort and hopefully endorses the sentiment that we’re all in this together”.

Following the lockdown in March, all Harvey Jones showrooms remained closed until last week (w/c June 1).
