EXCLUSIVE: Smallbone to open $2 million flagship store in New York

Lux Group Holdings, the parent company of Smallbone of Devizes and Mark Wilkinson Furniture, is to open a new 4,000sq ft, $2 million (£1.5m) flagship store in New York.

Located in heart of NoMad [North of Madison Square Park], an area known for its luxury condos, trendy bars and restaurants and top hotels, the new store is near the city’s design district and a stone’s throw the High Line elevated railway.

The company said that “this exciting launch cements the business’s special relationship with the US and reflects the strength of demand for luxury English furniture in Manhattan and across the country”.

The showroom displays will feature furniture from the Smallbone of Devizes portfolio. It will open in early 2020.

Commenting on the move, Lux Group Holdings ideation director Iain O’Mahony commented: “This is an exciting new direction for us and our vision of where we see the future of the luxury kitchen marketplace elevating. We are creating an all-encompassing luxury destination with an injection of multi-sensory experiences.

“Our new space will be epic and over 4,000sq ft, with a peppering of beautiful products and live cookery stations, including a Japanese Omakase sushi experience, where clients can relax around our bespoke bar to have their personalised menu created for them by our Sushi master.

“Lux Group Holdings are going to deliver an amazing venue with full visual impact that will engage all the senses!”

The company has already worked on residential developments in New York, where it supplied furniture to the landmark 75-storey One57 project of condos and penthouses in Manhattan.
