Top designer to feature at LivingKitchen 2019

Swiss-Argentine designer Alfredo Häberli has agreed to present a futuristic kitchen concept at German trade event LivingKitchen at its 2019 event, hosted in conjunction with interiors show imm cologne.

Häberli, who has collaborated with BMW in the past, will display his kitchen concept in the Future Design hall at the event to be held from 14-20 January.

“In Alfredo Häberli, we have been able to win an internationally renowned designer and pioneer. We can look forward to inspiring and at the same time practicable solutions”, said Dick Spierenburg, creative director, imm Cologne.

LivingKitchen said its next show would focus on smart and aspirational solutions for the future themes of the industry.

These include what the kitchen design of tomorrow could look like, how nutrition trends are changing technologies in the kitchen, and how intelligently we can integrate cooking, living and eating.

The event will be divided into three exhibition areas: Future Technology, Future Design and Future Food Styles, which will showcase future forms of kitchen equipment and design, and moot scenarios of how we will live in future.

Matthias Pollmann, vice president, trade fair management, at event organiser Koelnmesse said: “It is primarily three things that are advancing the development of the kitchen into the modern focus of life: innovations in device technology, trends in design and the changing cooking and eating culture.

“Only all three together define the kitchen of tomorrow.”

LivingKitchen trade fair may primarily be a business platform and stage for product innovations, but also increasingly sees itself as a forum for discussion of the question of the future of the kitchen.

Solutions for self-production, urban gardening, indoor farming and outdoor kitchens will be some of the topics on the agenda, as well as societal developments like urbanisation and sharing concepts, cooking robots and dialogue cookers.

For the first time imm Cologne has added a kitchen category to its feted Pure Talents Contest for young designers and the shortlisted kitchen concepts and prototypes will be on display.

Last year, the event was fully booked, featuring 200 international exhibitors and more than 150,000 visitors from around the world.
