Hot tap brand Wödar has announced its sponsorship of Leeds United defender Max Wöber, calling the partnership a “perfect match” due to its Leeds heritage and shared name.
The announcement reinforces the company’s commitment as a strategic partner of the football club, with managing director Michael Sammon said to be a lifelong Leeds United supporter.
Considering the incredibly similar names between both the company and Austrian football player, Wödar says the umlaut they share reflects a joint commitment to standing out in their respective fields.
In addition, the hot tap company says that the sponsorships celebrates its roots as a Leeds-based company, as well as reinforces its commitment to supporting the local community.
“We couldn’t help but notice the connection – the umlaut is a symbol of individuality and heritage, much like both our brand and Max himself,” commented Michael Sammon, managing director at Wödar.
“It’s a perfect match for our Leeds heritage and our partnership with my beloved Leeds United, going far beyond a meeting of names!”
Earlier this year, Wödar announced it was re-launching, having released a range of new products and retailer support materials as part of a “total re-brand”.
Wödår was first launched in the UK in 2022 by Sammon, an ex-Frontline director. Speaking to kbbreview at the time, he said that the company was inspired by the meteoric rise in popularity of hot tap products after COVID, but that it also wanted to dispel the misconception that they were solely luxury items.
