InSinkErator launches new food waste disposal education campaign

With changes to recycling regulations due to come into effect next year, InSinkErator UK has rolled out a new campaign highlighting how its products can help contribute to efficient food waste management.

In March 2026, all local authorities will be required to provide food waste caddies as part of the new ‘Simpler Recycling’ regulations in England. Essentially, this means that food waste  will need to be separated from general waste and then also collected separately, with the hope that this will reducing the amount sent to landfill each year.

Ahead of the new regulations, InSinkErator’s new educational campaign showcases the benefits of its food waste disposal products to retailers and kitchen designers, as the topic becomes a bigger talking point for consumers across the country.

The brand’s food waste disposers grind food waste into small particles that can then flushed through a home’s plumbing, which the brand says supports consumers who are advised to use their food caddy or compost inedible food waste.

InSinkErator says its new campaign is based entirely around education and communication, with the messaging being delivered through printed collateral sent to showrooms, social media activity, and plans to deliver further messaging at KBB 2026.

Specifically, InSInkErator’s campaign explores the three practical ways to tackle food waste – composting, disposing in a food waste caddy, or using a food waste disposal product.

“InSinkErator is an active campaigner which focuses on the prevention and disposing of any unavoidable food waste responsibly,” explained Anne Kaarlela, InSinkErator’s marketing communications and customer service manager for Europe.

“Our new activity is designed to educate industry professionals about the options their customers have when it comes to managing food waste, so that they’re in the know in preparation for new regulations next year.

“The business has produced products which get rid of food scraps quickly and hygienically since 1927, and we know that a food waste disposer is a great option for tackling inedible and messy food waste when using a caddy or composting is not practical. Retailers and designers can start to plan this into their thinking when it comes to offering solutions to customers, and food waste disposers can be gamechangers that easily add value to the customer’s kitchen.”
