Moores assets up for sale at auction

Moores Furniture Group entered administration earlier this year

Following the collapse of Yorkshire-based Moores Furniture Group earlier this year, more than 2,000 lots of the company’s assets are due to be put up for auction online this month.

Previously one of the UK’s largest kitchen manufacturers, Moores Furniture Group entered administration in January of this year, with Wren Kitchens buying its customer list and certain intellectual property assets in a pre-pack deal.

Following the deal, asset advisory specialist Walker Singleton has been appointed to dispose of all of the company’s remaining assets via a “phased approach” of six online auction sales.

These lots include manufacturing equipment such as workbenches and machinery, as well as office furniture such as small kitchen appliances, and a whiteboard which still displays a parting message written by a former Moores employee who wanted to make their feelings about the company known.

The first auction round closes at noon on April 16, and comprises more than 300 lots.

“We are delighted to offer our strategic auction disposal services and work alongside a consortium of forward-thinking professionals,” said Abigail Whiteoak, asset specialist at Walker Singleton.

“The phased auction sales for Moores Furniture Group’s assets will transition through the 35-acre site, allowing redevelopment and refurbishment for the next chapter of the estate.  The scale of the property and site will result in an opportunity to acquire assets for all applications to suit all industries.”

In related news, the administrators’ report into Moores Furniture Group was released in February, and revealed that the company’s collapse was primarily driven by a period of sustained losses, with more than £30m owed to creditors. Administrators said that in the twelve months leading up to the administration, sales volumes at Moores “suffered significantly” after the insolvency of one of its major customers. As a result, Moores faced a funding requirement of approximately £2m going into 2026.
