Ex-display and second-hand kitchen reseller Used Kitchen Exchange (UKE) has launched a sister company to provide a kitchen removal and delivery service.
Specialist Kitchen Removals aims to be a ‘white-glove’ removal service, according to UKE founder Helen Lord. Its five-van fleet been adapted for kitchen removals and the transportation of stone worksurfaces and cabinetry.
UKE has five years of experience of kitchen removals with its used-kitchen e-commerce site and has used that to provide a removal service for kitchen showrooms and consumers.
Retailers can use the new service when they are moving showrooms. Lord said: “Our client base is either showrooms removing and selling ex-display kitchens, domestic homeowners selling and removing their own used kitchen or people who are buying used kitchens from online sites such as eBay.”
Removal services for kitchens are not that common in the UK, however over on continental Europe, especially in Germany, taking the kitchen in a house move is normal.
Lord said: “For many years, we have perfected our ‘know-how’ when removing ex-display and used kitchens. The skill and knowledge required when removing or delivering a ‘pre-installed’ kitchen is very different from installation and we have found that too many showrooms using inexperienced fitters have experienced avoidable removal damage when selling their displays.
“Working with kitchen showrooms and homeowners across the UK, we have undertaken a bespoke kitchen dismantle and delivery service to enhance the Used Kitchen Exchange business. Specialist Kitchen Removals has grown organically from this to meet industry demand.”
