Following the recent departure of Duravit chief executive Stephan Patrick Tahy, the company has announced that Michael Demmer, who was recently appointed as interim CEO, will take over as the company’s official CEO and chairman.
News of Tahy’s departure was first reported last month, when Duravit announced he would be stepping down from the CEO role “by mutual agreement”, as it was decided that his vision for the company’s future was no longer aligned with the rest of the executive board.
The following week, Duravit’s board appointed Demmer to act as interim CEO until a suitable successor could be found, saying his stewardship would ensure a seamless continuation of the company’s projects and strategy.
Now officially confirmed as the head of the company, Duravit’s supervisory board says Demmer’s appointment reflects its confidence in the strategic direction he has driven the company towards in recent weeks.
“In a very short time, Michael Demmer has provided decisive impetus and developed a compelling strategic vision for Duravit’s future,” said Gregor Greinert, chairman of Duravit’s supervisory board. “On this basis, we have decided to officially appoint him as CEO and to consistently continue on the path we have chosen.”
“Duravit has a strong brand, a long tradition, and great potential,” added Demmer. “I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to taking the next steps together with the team and shaping the company’s future in a sustainable way.”
