Omega Kitchens has donated a full kitchen to the Bradley Lowery Foundation’s respite home for children with illness and disabilities, with chairman Sir Bob Murray appealing to others across the KBB industry to also lend their support for the project.
The Bradley Lowery Foundation was established in memory of the late six-year-old football fan Bradley Lowery, who courageously battled neuroblastoma after being diagnosed with the condition at just 18 months old.
Through the foundation, his mother, Gemma Lowery, has spent several years raising almost £1m towards a respite home called Super Brad’s Pad. Once open, the space will provide children with life-limiting illnesses and their families with a peaceful and private space to spend time together away from hospitals and treatment environments.
The home – which has been built in an L-shape in tribute to Lowery – has been specially designed to support the needs of seriously ill children, offering accessible living spaces for families, private gardens, and dedicated playrooms.
As part of its support for the project, Omega Kitchens has also donated a full kitchen to the respite home, which will be used by its residents and their families for years to come.
Sir Bob Murray, Omega Kitchens chairman, commented: “Gemma and the Foundation have created something genuinely special that will help families at the moments they need it most.
“Donating the kitchen was simply our family’s way of helping in a small way, but there are still opportunities for others across the KBB industry and wider business community to support the project and make a real and lasting difference.
“The finish line is now in sight and I hope people will come together to help complete something that will support families for generations to come.”
Before it can be completed, the Foundation is still seeking support to finish the home’s final rooms, and is in need of commercial-grade furniture for its bedrooms, family living spaces and outdoor areas.
Gemma Lowery added: “We wanted to create something that would help families make happy memories together during some of the hardest times in their lives because we know exactly what that feels like.
“Nothing like this existed for Bradley and we know how much families need somewhere private, peaceful and safe where they can spend proper time together away from hospital wards.
“We wanted the home to feel bright and open because not every child is well enough to go outside. We thought carefully about every part of it and what families really need.
“We hope this place helps other families create special memories together. More than anything, we hope lots of the children who stay here go on to recover and look back on happy memories made with their families at Super Brad’s Pad.”
