Summerbridge files to appoint administrators

Yorkshire-based KBB furniture manufacturer Summerbridge Doors has filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators, with around 100 jobs thought to be at risk.

The company – which is also known as Humber Doors – was founded in 1992, and was acquired by heating and bathroom supplier Kartell UK back in 2022.

Following the acquisition, Summerbridge operated as a standalone business within the Kartell UK group, which includes shower tray manufacturer JT, and towel warmer brand Vogue.

According to legal documents, the notice of intent to appoint administrators was filed on May 18. Anecdotal reports on social media made by staff suggest they been put on notice of redundancy, although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the company.

Supplying products primarily to the trade market, Summerbridge’s clients include house developers, student accommodation companies, merchants, retailers or the leisure market. According to the company’s latest financial statement, which covers up until the end of February 2025, the business owed creditors around £1.8m.

This comes just a few months after fellow Yorkshire kitchen furniture giant Moores also went into administration.
